Local swimmer wins masters bay swim

David Shackley, 60, of Rehoboth Beach finished sixth overall and won the masters division at the Great Chesapeake Bay 4.4-Mile Swim. Shackley, who swims every day in the ocean off Dewey Beach from May to November, completed the race in 2:01:01. He was the only Delaware competitor in the field of 135 swimmers. The race was won by 17-year-old Luke Corey of Crofton, Md., in 1:35:03.
