Local travel writer to preview Danube River cruise April 26
Award-winning travel writer and film critic Bill Newcott, Accent on Travel and Uniworld Cruises will co-host a preview for an upcoming movie-themed Danube River Cruise at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 26, at the Cinema Art Theater near Lewes.
Newcott, a film critic for The Saturday Evening Post and a frequent travel contributor to National Geographic and other outlets, will lead a group of movie-loving travelers from Vienna, Austria, to Nuremberg, Germany, from Thursday, July 20, to Saturday, July 29, 2023.
Along the way, the group will visit shooting locales for classic films including “The Third Man,” “Before Sunrise,” “Amadeus,” “Judgment at Nuremberg” and “Triumph of the Will.”
They’ve been making movies in the Danube valley for almost as long as movies have been made,” said Newcott, a Lewes resident who was a film critic for AARP the Magazine for nearly 20 years and created AARP’s Movies for Grownups franchise. “I’ve traveled along the Danube several times, but never before in search of classic movie locales. This is going to be fascinating.”
During the cruise, Newcott will also conduct impromptu sessions on travel writing for travelers who dream of sharing their far-flung experiences via print.
The seven-night cruise with Uniworld Boutique River Cruises will board in Vienna and travel up the Danube and Main-Danube Canal, disembarking at Nuremburg.
At the Cinema Art Theater event, Newcott will preview his unique take on the itinerary. Then, a Uniworld representative will discuss the cruise line’s premier offerings as well as details about the ship and its Danube ports of call.
As part of its continuing commitment to support community organizations, Accent on Travel, the Rehoboth Beach agency organizing this trip, will make a contribution to Cinema Art Theater for each traveler who signs up through CAT.
