Locals launch secure platform to protect critical documents

April 11, 2025

David and Lori Selsberg of Lewes announced the launch of DocuGuardian, a secure online platform designed to help individuals organize and protect the critical documents and life memories their loved ones will want and need, before they need them.

“If you’ve ever watched a family scramble after the death of a loved one, desperately searching for wills, account info or final wishes, you already know the cost of not being prepared. DocuGuardian was created to bridge that all-too-common moment: ‘I’ve seen this happen to others’ into ‘I need to do something now for my own family.’ “This isn’t about planning for death. It’s about caring for the people you love and ensuring their legacy lives on long after they are gone,” said Lori, an attorney and co-founder of DocuGuardian. “We’ve seen it firsthand; people leave behind a mess, not out of neglect, but because they never found the time to organize. Our platform makes that part easy, and we want to make sure no one has to say, ‘I wish they’d written it down.’”

With no paperwork and no complicated spreadsheets, DocuGuardian members can quickly and securely enter the essential information their family might one day need – where to find their wills, information about insurance policies, contacts and more. The platform uses guided fields for each category, so there's no guesswork, and while it is possible, there is no requirement to upload documents.

“Would you toss all your important documents into a fire? That’s essentially what happens when they’re shoved in a box in the basement and no one knows where to look. We also incorporate features and other helpful tools to ensure our members can easily maintain their content and keep their important documents up to date,” said Dave, co-founder and serial startup founder. “DocuGuardian gives your family the key to clarity instead of the burden of confusion.”

Lori spent years in business transformation and has used her legal skills to help friends and family through estate chaos. Dave has scaled several successful startups and knew technology could make the process easier, more secure and less overwhelming.

“This is a gift,” Lori said. “Not only for you, but for the people who love you. It’s the kind of thing your family will thank you for later.”
