In recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Day and Wear Orange Weekend, about 80 people gathered June 2 on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk.
Wear Orange began June 2, 2015, on what would have been Hadiya Pendleton’s 18th birthday. At the time of her death, Pendleton was a Chicago teenager, who marched in President Barack Obama’s second inaugural parade.
According to the Wear Orange website, in 2022, more than 1,500 partner organizations, influencers, corporate brands, elected officials and landmarks joined hundreds of thousands of Americans to unite around a call to end gun violence.
