Lord Baltimore Lions support Justin’s Beach House program

October 29, 2024

Lord Baltimore Lions recently welcomed guest speaker Nancy Lueckel, event coordinator at Justin’s Beach House, a respite home in Bethany Beach for families dealing with cancer. Lueckel said the house gives an opportunity for families to relax and unwind free of charge, away from cancer treatments and medical tests for a short time.

She told the story of Justin Jennings, a young man who in July 1998 was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor four weeks before he was to start his first year at Penn State University. Jennings passed away two years later. His family established the beach house to honor his memory and provide some level of comfort for other families going through a similar situation. Lueckel said Contractors for a Cause provides significant support and also highlighted the ongoing efforts of volunteers who assist in the operation and funding of Justin’s Beach House.

After the presentation, President Scott Brannan presented Lueckel with a donation from the Lord Baltimore Lions to support the programs at Justin’s Beach House. Childhood cancer relief is one of the five major causes supported by Lions Clubs worldwide.

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club service area includes Bethany Beach, Ocean View, Millville, Frankford, Clarksville and Dagsboro.
