Louise R. Wagner, retired secretary
Louise R. Wagner, 86, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, in Lewes.
Born in Laurel to the late Clarence (Jim) Riggin and Beatrice Scott Riggin, Louise grew up in Wilmington where she graduated from P.S. DuPont High School. Following graduation, she worked first at the Security Trust Co. in Wilmington followed by a career at Johnson’s Pharmacy in Greenville. She retired in 1973 from Hercules Inc. in Wilmington, where she worked as a secretary.
Louise enjoyed organizing what she called “desk work.” Following retirement, she volunteered at the Delaware Art Museum and the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington. She and husband Ken lived in Montreal, Canada for several years where she organized and arranged the Montreal General Hospital’s annual fundraisers. Many wonderful friends were made during those years.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Kenneth A. Wagner; and a sister, Anne Lautenklos. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Dawson of Lewes and Susan (David) Skiles of Manassas, Va.; son, Michael Wagner of Newark; her sisters, Norma Adams of Lewes and Patricia (Lee) Peterson of Texas; grandchildren Christa (Michael) Policella and Alexander (Kendall) Wagner; a great-granddaughter, Olivia; nephews Richard, David, Charles and Glen; and niece, Sandra.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Wagner's name be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 129 W. 4th St., Lewes, DE 19958, or The Alzheimer's Association, DE Chapter, PO BOX 625, Georgetown, DE 19947.
