Lyle G. Hicks, proud veteran
Lyle G. Hicks, 86, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away at home Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Englewood, N.J., to the late John S. Hicks and Dale C. (Butterworth) Hicks.
After graduating high school, Lyle attended many certification courses, which led him to a fascinating career as an aircraft engineer. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy Reserves. His career led him to Dover Air Force Base, where he met his wife, Donna Kinney. They were married Dec. 27, 1976, and spent 46 years making countless memories together. He was a loving and devoted husband.
His hobbies were boating, cruising, and traveling all over the world. One of his most impressive talents was renovating his homes. His presence will be forever missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by his brothers, Darryl and John Hicks. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna K. Hicks; his sons, Sean Brown and Scott Hicks; his stepdaughters, Barbara Beaman and Nancy Fields (Mark); his grandsons, Logan and Maverick Fields; and his niece, Margaret (Hicks) Pitts.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe chapel, 36101 Seaside Blvd., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
