Lynda Margaret Klingman, accomplished artist

July 11, 2023

Lynda Margaret Klingman, 88, of Denver, Colo., passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 28, 2023. She was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Washington, D.C., daughter of Lynda and Russell Cahoon. She graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in interior design from the University of Maryland, where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

Lynda began her career as a young designer at Woodward & Lothrop in Washington, D.C., eventually becoming the assistant home furnishings coordinator. After relocating with her family, she worked for Leishman Interiors in Albuquerque, N.M. Lynda’s graceful approach and keen eye for composition, color, texture, and style delighted her many clients, local and national politicians among them. Her talents were once showcased in a large design show, where she created an exhibit for race car driver Al Unser.

An accomplished artist, Lynda enjoyed painting in watercolor, displaying some of her artwork in local shows. She wrote and illustrated a beautiful, practical interior design book. Lynda had a passion for visiting art museums and was particularly fond of the galleries on Canyon Road in Santa Fe. She was enormously proud of her family, cherished time with her grandchildren, and the birth of her great-grandchild brought her much joy. Lynda made the world a more beautiful place, and she will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Lynda was predeceased by her husband, Sanford Klingman; her grandson, Logan; and sister, Susan Bodman. She is survived by her children, Patrick (Valerie) Madigan, Valerie (John) Ryan and Joseph Klingman; her grandchildren, Hayley (Riis), Jesse (Karah), Jack, Alexandria and Sean; and her great-grandchild, Hasen. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia (John) Zubritsky; her brother, Michael (Laima) Cahoon; and her nieces, nephew, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 14, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 200 Second St., Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Episcopal Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

For memorial contributions, the family requests donations be made in memory of Lynda to Children’s Defense Fund, childrensdefense.org.
