Margret Morgan of Rehoboth Beach to celebrate 100th birthday Jan. 9
The family of Margret Morgan of Rehoboth Beach is proud to announce the celebration of her 100th birthday Jan. 9, 2022.
Margret’s family includes daughters Victoria, Valerie and Janet, and son Joseph; grandchildren Youssef, Cory, Jasmine, Julia, Elena; and great-grandchildren Bella and Solomon; along with sons-in-law Thomas and Richard, and daughters-in-law Cathleen and Jennifer.
A veteran of World War II, Margret received her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, and worked as a school nurse in West Virginia before retiring with her husband Paul to Rehoboth.
Margret had been bringing her family to Rehoboth since the late ‘50s after reading an article about an inexpensive place to vacation at the Delaware beaches. Searching for properties from the mid-‘60s, she finally purchased a house in 1976. While Paul, an accountant, struggled with how to finance the children’s higher education bills, Margret met with bankers to approve a scheme where she would generate cash through the 12 weeks of summer rentals.
In an era long before Airbnb, she went out pounding the pavement through the Pittsburgh suburbs as Rehoboth’s champion saleswoman. This lasted into the early ‘90s and, with bankers duly satisfied, she permanently relocated to Rehoboth to relax and become an amateur artist. Also in an era long before women’s liberation, Margret was not shy about pursuing what was important to her.
She met Paul during the war and they were married in 1946.
