Marie E. Brittingham, loved the Lord, family

Marie E. (Crocker) Brittingham, 68, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Marie was born in Bath, Maine, daughter of Elizabeth (Babine) Crocker and the late David E. Crocker. Marie attended Morse High School in Bath and spent her life working in the service industry. She worked as a server for numerous years in several local restaurants and was a manager at The Avenue Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. After many years in the restaurant industry, Marie took a position in the cafeteria with Cape Henlopen High School, retiring after 25 years.

Marie loved all things water and mermaid-related and had an extensive collection of mermaid décor. She loved finding a bargain and enjoyed scouring thrift shops and yard sales for the next great find. Marie also loved to spoil her Great Pyrenees fur babies, Gracie and Jewel. In addition to her love for all these things, she loved her Lord and family the most. Marie had attended Eagles Nest Fellowship Church and more recently, Crossroad Community Church.

Marie was preceded in death in 2014 by her father, David E. Crocker.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Keith B. Brittingham; her mother, Betty Crocker; two daughters, Kelly Toney (Pete Lujan) and Tiffani Dunn (Allen White); three step-children, Dawn Johnson (Ukie), Rhonda Brittingham and Keith “Buddy” Brittingham (Melody); five grandchildren, Summer Martin (Darren), Spencer Brittingham, UJ Johnson (Amanda), Kylee Brittingham and Aaden Johnson; two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Tyler; three siblings, Katherine Wood (Richard), Arthur J. Crocker (Jaye) and David E. Crocker Jr.; her cousin, Rosie Woodd, who was her best friend and soul sister; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton. A time of food, fellowship, and celebration of Marie’s life will immediately follow at the VFW in Milton.  

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
