The Rehoboth Art League has awarded artist Marilyn Feldman the commission to paint the seven homes on the 2017 Cottage Tour of Art to be held in July. Feldman studied art at the Corcoran Gallery School of Art and at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. At GWU, she earned a degree in journalism and graphic art, and was named to Phi Beta Kappa.
Feldman is a longtime member of Potomac Valley Watercolorists and a more recent member of Rehoboth Art League. Her paintings have been shown at juried exhibitions, including the Maryland Federation of Art, Art on Paper show in Annapolis, Md.; Baltimore Watercolor Society, Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition, Baltimore; Strathmore Art Center, Rockville, Md.; and the Art Barn in Washington, D.C. She has won numerous awards, including first prize in a C&O Canal Days Artist in Action competition sponsored by the National Park Service. Her work is in private collections and at the National Institutes of Health.
Feldman splits her time between Potomac, Md., and Lewes, and has studio space at the Studios on Walnut in Milton. Recently retired from a 30-year career in communication, media relations and publication design, she looks forward to spending more time fulfilling her passion for painting.
The 68th Annual Cottage Tour of Art will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, July 11 and 12. Feldman will create a pastel of each of the six private homes, as well as the art league's historic Peter Marsh Homestead. Images of Feldman's works will be used in the tour program, and her original pastels will be awarded to the home owners during a June thank you reception. Feldman's rendition of the Homestead will be accessioned into the art league's esteemed permanent collection.
Cottage Tour tickets are $35 per person. The tour is appropriate for ages 13 and above. By mid-June, tickets will be available at several local locations to be announced on the website. The Cottage Tour of Art is underwritten by J. Conn Scott. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408.
