The Mariner Middle School volleyball squad battled from one game down to powerful cross-district rival Beacon, and when the final spike was made, the Mariner Vikings had won a 20-25, 26-24 and 15-5 three-set victory.
"It was so exciting," said Mariner head coach Nicole Scott. "Beacon's passing was great and our net play was awesome. The future of Cape Henlopen volleyball is very bright."
"Both teams played really hard," said Beacon head coach Jen Celano. "It's always a tough match when we play Mariner."
Both teams take to the road Wednesday, Oct. 15, when Mariner takes on Sussex Academy and Beacon squares off with Dover Central Middle School.
