Marlene L. Banaszewski, retired loan officer

Marlene L. Banaszewski, 89, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was born Nov. 25, 1934, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Frank Frazier Sr. and Loretta (Praglowski) Frazier. She was a devoted wife for 56 years to Anthony (Tony) Banaszewski before his passing in 2008.

For 20 years, Marlene worked for Patapsco Federal Savings and Loan in Baltimore as a bank teller and retired as a loan officer. Marlene and Tony moved to Lewes in 1997 and enjoyed the serenity of their home and the closeness of the beach. She took pride in her gardens and enjoyed tending to them.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Tartal (Ray) of Lewes, and Brenda Cohee (Don) of Stevensville, Md.; her grandchildren, Raymond Tartal (Malorie), Jacob Tartal (Marissa) and Aaron Tartal, all of Lewes, Rick Pedrick Jr. of Centreville, Md., Amanda Wilson (Justin) of Centreville, and DJ Cohee and Christine Cohee of Stevensville; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 7, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints’ Cemetery, 20274 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson.
