Mary Ann Patricia VanSant, Bell retiree, Beebe volunteer

Mary Ann Patricia (Boyle) VanSant, 93, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at The Moorings at Lewes. Pat was born in Somers Point, N.J., daughter of the late Anne T. (DuRoss) Boyle and Leo F. Boyle.

Pat was raised in the Wilmington area and graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1949. She worked for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania (Verizon) for 35 years and retired in 1984. Pat moved to Millsboro in 1985, where she was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church and a charter member of Bishop James C. Burke Columbiettes No. 11285. Pat was also a member of Indian River Yacht Club and volunteered for over 20 years at Beebe Healthcare's gift shop in Lewes. In 2018, Pat moved to Lewes.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her first husband, Victor F. Bradley, in 1972; her second husband, Avery G. VanSant, in 1994; and her sister, Frances Lee Callahan in 2015. She is survived by her stepson, Steven G. VanSant of Milford; her stepdaughter, Pamela V. Edwards of Elk Creek, Va.; step-granddaughters, Jennifer Edwards of Viola, and Gwendolyn Edwards and Laura Edwards, both of Elk Creek, Va.; plus 10 step-great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10 a.m. Entombment will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
