Melissa Ann DeMasters, life of the party

August 30, 2023

Melissa Ann DeMasters of Peninsula Lakes, Long Neck, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023. She was born Dec. 4, 1974, in Portland, Maine, daughter of Micheal and Terasita Dee.

Melissa graduated from Ramstein High School (Germany) Class of 1993. Following graduation, she attended Yuba City College in California. After Yuba, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she would quickly find her love and true calling, the hospitality business. She met her husband, Donald B. DeMasters, while working at Westin La Cantera Resort in 2001. They celebrated 19 years of marriage in January. Their careers would eventually take them to the Mid-Atlantic region, where they would end up settling in Delaware.

She was an amazingly fun person, always the life of the party. She enjoyed hanging out with friends at the beach, the hockey rink, or the lacrosse field. She loved her job, her team, her members, her friends, and more than anything in the world, her two boys.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Donald DeMasters, are her sons, Lleyton Walker DeMasters and Hudson Louis DeMasters; her father, Micheal Dee; her mother, Terasita Arnic; and brother, Benjamin Dee.

A celebration of life will be held at noon, Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Melson's Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Long Neck, where friends and family can call after 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org.
