Michael O'Neil, avid fisherman

Michael “Mike” O'Neil, 72, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 30, 2023.

Mike will be lovingly remembered by his niece, Marnie O'Neil Eckstein; nephew, Allan Elder O'Neil; stepson, Sean Corona; as well as a grandniece, -nephews, and numerous friends who had the pleasure of knowing his sarcasm and genuine, kind spirit.  

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia; his brother Dennis; and his parents Dorothy and Richard. He also cared for and lost many pets throughout his life. He was an exceptional pet parent and in his final years of life, he enjoyed the company of his three Westies, Jax, Abbee and Jessee. 

Prior to being a Delaware retiree, Mike worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman. In retirement, he worked for the local post office, and took road trips to visit friends and family, even driving across the country with his nephew.  

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 26, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, followed by a luncheon, locale to be determined.
