A Milford teen faces a murder charge in connection with the 2021 shooting death of a Dover man.
Jesean Coverdale, 19, was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy following a July 25 traffic stop. A warrant for Coverdale’s arrest had been issued following the May 2021 shooting death of Javon D. Jones, 23. Jones was a patron in the Uplift Barber Shop on Governors Avenue near Rodney Village when Coverdale and Kyree Robinson, 23, of Dover entered the front door and fired multiple shots at Jones, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.
The two men fled on foot. Jones was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead from gunshots to his upper torso, DeMalto said.
Robinson was arrested in April 2022 and charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was incarcerated at the time of his arrest and given a $1,070,000 cash bond, keeping him in the custody of the Department of Correction.
Coverdale was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $85,000 cash bond.
