Millsboro boy charged in fatal Ellendale shooting

A Millsboro boy faces a murder charge in connection with a shooting June 9 in Ellendale.

A Sussex County grand jury indicted Angelo Rodriguez, 14, July 22 on first-degree murder, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, first-degree assault, eight counts of first-degree reckless endangering, and theft of a firearm.

Rodriguez had been a suspect in the shooting that took the life of Ahniya Coverdale, 17, and injured a man, 19, when he was shot in the leg.

Rodriguez was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $300,000 cash bond.

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate this incident and asks anyone with information regarding this case to contact Det. M. Csapo at 302-741-2729.
