Milton Art Walk to bring community together Oct. 12

September 29, 2024

Milton Arts Guild will hold its Sixth Annual Art Walk featuring an expanded array of artist venues and many new features, including entertainment and a community engagement art piece.

The Art Walk will get underway at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, and will spotlight 28 artists on 25 porches throughout downtown Milton. Event maps will be available in Milton Arts Guild’s 107 Federal St. gallery.

New features this year will include music by Al Frantic along the route, and plein air artists engaging visitors as they paint street scenes at various sites along the walk.

Four artists will have their own studios open along the route this year for visitors to explore, and Irish Eyes and the Milton Public Library – two of Milton Arts Guild’s Gallery Around Town venues – will be Art Walk stops this year. The front windows of Irish Eyes will display the work of four Milton Arts Guild artists from Sunday, Oct. 6, through Art Walk day. In addition, Milton Public Library will feature works from several artists.

Community members are encouraged to take part in “Weaving Community Spirit,” an interactive fabric “sculpture” that will be displayed on the sidewalk outside the 107 Federal St. gallery. Visitors can weave a piece of fabric into the sculpture to help create the finished work. A “Weaving Community Spirit” banner will be on display at 302 Mill St., designed by Liz Miceli, a Milton Arts Guild member, and owner of Elizabeth Ann Studio on Lavinia Street. The craft group of the Woodfield Preserve community donated and cut the fabric for the project, and kicked off the weaving process.

“Art Walk has always been one of our most popular events of the year,” said Lynda Rae Gannon, a Milton Arts Guild vice president. “These new features and venues further enhance our commitment to art, fun and community engagement.”
