Milton CHEER Center celebrates new curbs
Just in time for the holidays, the CHEER Milton Center celebrated new curbing and parking-lot improvements Nov. 3.
Addressing a small crowd of center-goers, board members and employees, Ken Moore, the center’s development manager, said the project makes the property more attractive and improves safety and stormwater management.
In attendance were Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes, and Rep. Steve Smyk, R-Milton, who contributed a portion of their Community Transportation Funds to make the project possible. Smyk used $35,000, while Lopez used $20,000.
The $2.3 million center, which opened in March 2015, was made possible through a $1.5 million loan from the USDA community facilities fund. The 6,600-square-foot center, 24855 Broadkill Road, houses offices, a gym and a dining room along with a commercial kitchen that allows the center to serve as a Meals on Wheels production facility.
