Milton Garden Club planning 25th anniversary activities

Special event set June 25
March 28, 2023

The Milton Garden Club was established in 1998, and members are planning various activities throughout the year to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The planning committee held its first meeting to discuss ways to mark this milestone. Longtime member Kathryn Greig is the chairperson.

Two of the garden club’s past members are honored in the Milton Historical Society’s Women of Milton exhibit. The historical society is also sponsoring a speaker series, and in May, several garden club members will talk about the history of flowers.

The area behind the clock garden on Union Street in Milton is another of the 25th anniversary projects. A landscape designer’s new touches to this garden are in the early planning stages.

To thank all those who have supported the Milton Garden Club throughout its 25 years, a special event is set for 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 25, at the gazebo in Milton Memorial Park. Town leaders, business owners, local organizations and the public are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served, along with music and a display of club memorabilia.

The club meets monthly, except in summer months and December. In addition to conducting regular business, presentations on topics of interest to gardeners are featured. The program for the October meeting will include stories about the history of the club. This presentation will be recorded in an effort to preserve its history for future members.

The Milton Garden Club is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Funds raised are used to purchase plants and flowers to beautify Milton, and also to provide scholarships for local students pursuing a degree in horticulture or agriculture.
