Milton Garden Club to sell greens at Holly Festival Dec. 7
The Milton Garden Club will take part in the Holly Festival celebration in Milton, to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday Dec. 7. The club will have tents set up on the sidewalk in front of the Milton Historical Society at 210 Union St.
The club will offer mixed-greens wreaths, bundles of greens, porch pots, small arrangements, centerpieces with and without candles, small bunches of holly and individual branches of southern magnolia. Club members have been busy gathering greens for the last week, and all of the greenery to be sold has been grown in Sussex County.
No magnolia/boxwood or boxwood wreaths will be available, as they are already sold out.
Throughout the day, club members will continue to sell 50/50 raffle tickets at $1 each or six for $5. The winning ticket will be drawn at 3 p.m.
Money from the sale of the greens and raffle tickets goes toward plantings and other needs for the beautification of downtown Milton gardens and planters, and to provide one of the scholarships to students in Sussex County who are planning to pursue a career in a field related to horticulture or agriculture. This enables club members to continue their goal of Making Milton Beautiful With Flowers, which has been the purpose of the club since it was formed in 1998.
