Milton Garden Tour set Sept. 15

August 11, 2024

Eight local homeowners will open their gates and welcome garden tour ticket holders from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, in support of the Milton Garden Club.

Some homes on the tour date back more than 100 years, while some were created just a few years ago. One garden was converted from an asphalt parking lot and one began as a yard covered in clamshell fragments. Today, all manner of wildlife visit these areas by land and air.

Each gardener shows a passion for growing and tending the trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables that grace their property. Whether grown in sunshine or shade, cultivated in containers or planted in Sussex soil, tour gardens feature herbs, vegetables, tropicals, vines, wildflowers, perennials and annuals, shrubs and trees, and eclectic décor including a fountain, a carriage house, a gazebo or two, and a G-scale train set – something to catch the eye of nearly any visitor.

Some gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. Artists and vendors will be selling their wares and creations. Plants and tasty treats will be offered for sale at the ticket booth.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets soon so they can enjoy this local beauty.

There is no rain date, but a hurricane/nor’easter date is Saturday, Sept. 23.

Advance tickets cost $20 and are for sale at Pepper’s Greenhouse, the Mercantile at Milton, Lewes Gourmet/Puzzles, Bella Terra Landscapes & Garden Center, and Titanic Pizzeria.

On the day of the tour, tickets cost $25 per person from the booth at the Milton Historical Society, 210 Union St., Milton.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool.
