Milton Lions Club celebrates Veterans Day

At exactly 11:11 a.m., Nov. 11, the Milton Lions Club held a Veterans Day ceremony honoring U.S. armed forces veterans at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Union Street.
To honor military veterans, 133 flags were posted around the cemetery. The event closed with club member John Hoffman, surrounded by the flags, playing a rendition of “Taps.”
The Cape Henlopen JROTC Color Guard makes its way to the center of the cemetery.
Wendy Coverdale, flanked by Milton Lions Club President Daniel Harper, sings the national anthem.
Those in attendance stand and sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The Rev. Todd Bean of Grace Church offers the blessing of the flag.
Lions Club District 22-D Gov. David Mitchell gives the keynote speech.
Ryan Mavity covers Milton and the court system. He is married to Rachel Swick Mavity and has two kids, Alex and Jane. Ryan started with the Cape Gazette all the way back in February 2007, previously covering the City of Rehoboth Beach. A native of Easton, Md. and graduate of Towson University, Ryan enjoys watching the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles in his spare time.
