Milton woman faces DUI after police track her driving stolen car
A Milton woman faces charges after police say she was driving a stolen car July 4, while under the influence.
Delaware State Police said they were notified at 5:19 p.m. of a stolen Acura ATL from New Jersey that was being electronically tracked driving southbound on Route 1 near Milton. Troopers found the car on West Randor Drive in Milton and tried to pull it over, but it did not stop. During the pursuit, police said, the Acura drove through the area until it returned to West Randor Drive and stopped. The driver, Jenifer Hirl, 30, tried to walk away but was quickly arrested after a brief struggle, police said. Hirl was taken to Troop 7 where troopers saw signs of impairment and administered sobriety tests.
Hirl was charged with receive or transfer a stolen vehicle, disregarding a police officer’s signal, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and several traffic violations. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $7,900 cash bond.
