Milton’s Fox Hole adds brunch menu
After being exclusively a dinner spot, Milton’s Fox Hole restaurant will now be offering brunch, with favorites that originated from its predecessor, Suburban Farmhouse.
Owner Kristen Latham said the Fox Hole, to be known as Fox Hole Social, will now be offering service “from coffee to cocktails.”
“We are doing all the specialty coffees, the cruffins and the quiche that everyone loved,” she said.
Service will start at 6:30 a.m., Wednesday through Sunday, although Latham said eventually the restaurant will serve seven days a week.
Suburban Farmhouse was Latham’s first restaurant in Milton, located across from town hall on Federal Street, and it quickly became a popular social spot for Miltonians to gather in the morning. After the building’s lease ran out, Latham regrouped and planned to open a new version of the Farmhouse across the street at 105 Federal St., which also housed her retail shop, The Speckled Roost. But when a fire destroyed that building, she refocused efforts on the Fox Hole and her other venture, Dough Bar, which opened next to Irish Eyes.
Latham said there was demand to bring back the Farmhouse menu and social atmosphere, so she decided to deliver, seeking out Gail Plummer, who had been responsible for much of the offerings.
“It was about merging the experience and the atmosphere with everything people are missing. There were no other restaurants that opened at 6:30 a.m. We need to caffeinate Milton,” she said.
Latham said the menu day will begin with brunch service from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. From 2 to 4 p.m. is Let’s Wine About It, with a focus on wine and beer flights, charcuterie and tapas plates. Finally, from 4 p.m. to close is dinner. In addition, Fox Hole Social will be serving beer from Mispillion River Brewing, with four beers on tap. Latham said in the near future, there are plans to bottle their own wine.
“What’s nice about this place is we wanted to find a balance between coffee shop and restaurant,” Plummer said. “It doesn’t matter if you want to come in here and read a book and have a cup of coffee, or if you want to have lunch and gab with your girlfriends, or if you want to sit down and have a business lunch. It fits all needs.”
