Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen Pageant set March 29

Nineteen young ladies will vie for the title of Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen 2009 at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 29, in the Centre for the Performing Arts at Sussex Central High School, Georgetown.

Amanda Debus, Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen 2008, will have the honor of crowning the winner.

The Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen is the sister pageant to the Miss Delaware Scholarship Pageant, and each is an affiliate of the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen and Miss America organizations, respectively. The winner will represent Delaware at the 2010 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in August 2009 in Orlando, Fla.

The pageant theme this year is “Rhythm Reigns,” featuring the electrifying music of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and the Jackson Five. The pageant will spotlight Debus and the 19 2009 Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen contestants.

Special guests include Galen Giaccone, Miss Delaware 2008, who was a Top 15 finalist and Preliminary Talent Award winner at the recent Miss America 2009 Pageant; Aimee Voshell String, Miss Delaware 1996 and pageant emcee; Carly Economos, Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen 2005; Chelsea Betts, Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen 2006; Michelle Bennett-Buglio, Miss New Castle County 2005; and the Hockessin Dance Team.

Tickets are available now and are reserved seating only. Ticket prices are $30, $25 and $20 and may be purchased in advance by contacting Laurie VanSciver at 302-249-9370 or LVanSciver2005@msn.com. A ticket reservation form with mailing instructions is also available at mdoteen.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. for ticket sales; theater doors will open at 2 p.m.
