Money month for youth starts March 4 at Lewes library
The Lewes Public Library invites teens and tweens for an engaging series of money- and employment-themed programs and workshops during Show Me the Money Month, culminating with its 8th Annual Teen Job Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 23.
For kids ages 10-16 interested in starting their own businesses, the Start Up! Young Entrepreneurs Workshop will begin at 6 p.m., Mondays, March 4, 11 and 18, presented by Lesley Eichten, a small business financial specialist based in Lewes. Participants will learn how to develop a business plan, implement marketing strategies and manage financial assets in order to bring their creative business visions to life.
For students in grades 6-8, two sessions of SafeSitter Essentials with CPR training will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 2.
The interactive, instructor-led course for sitters in training will focus on developing skills for safety, child care, first aid and rescue, along with business management. Participants will receive a certificate upon course completion.
To help teens put their best foot forward at the March 23 job fair, a job fair prep workshop will be offered at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 21. Presented by Lesley Eichten and Teen Services Librarian Emily Ellinger, the session will cover a wide range of topics for teen job seekers, from applications and interview techniques to work permits, employment law and professional etiquette.
Show Me the Money Month concludes with a chance for teens to connect with local businesses at the March 23 teen job fair. Local business owners will meet with teens to provide information and conduct interviews for both seasonal and long-term employment.
All Show Me the Money programs are free of charge and will take place at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes. Registration is required for all events except the job fair. For more information and to register, go to tinyurl.com/MoneyMonth24 or call 302-645-2733.
