Open now for a few weeks, Into the Mystic 369 is Rehoboth Beach’s newest store, and owner Moon Dream recently said it was a business venture that was meant to be.
“I feel like I’ve been poised to do something like this for a long time,” said Dream about her store offering tarot readings, ceramics, jewelry, artwork, candles, crystals and gemstones. “Rehoboth needs a place like this.”
Describing herself as a spiritual person who believes in the divinity of nature, Dream, who has a given name but goes by her spirit name, has opened Into the Mystic 369 in a Rehoboth Avenue space that most recently housed the record store Extended Play.
Electric Fish owners John Bonanno and Amy Stewart actually took over the space earlier this year and had been looking for something to fill it with. Stewart said since she was a teenager, she’s always wanted to run a metaphysics store.
There are a lot of questions surrounding metaphysics, and unfortunately, it’s often thought of as being something dark and mysterious, said Stewart. The goal at Into the Mystic 369 is to represent metaphysics in a serious but positive light, she said.
Dream, who has also been into metaphysics since she was a teenager, and she met Stewart through a friend of Stewart’s who saw Dream displaying her handmade, wire-wrapped jewelry at Spence’s Bazaar in Dover. Stewart’s friend told Dream her talents were being wasted at the bazaar and encouraged her to set up shop in Rehoboth. Soon after, said Dream, she was selling her handmade, wire-wrapped jewelry on the street in front of the store. Following a successful debut, the two women talked about opening Into the Mystic 369.
“I felt like I should be the person to do it,” said Dream, who is still getting the space fitted out. There are plans for installation of more shelves so there are more metaphysical items on display, she said.
The shop also serves as the work station for Dream’s wire-wrapped jewelry. Depending on the complexity, Dream said, pieces can be custom made in less than an hour, or they can take several hours.
Into the Mystic 369, at 204 Rehoboth Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The store is closed on Mondays. Dream said she takes appointments for her card readings, which can be booked online.
