During the month of June, the Nanticoke River Arts Council presents the artwork of 24 of its talented artists from Gallery 107 with an exhibition at Nassau Valley Vineyards, Lewes.
The current show includes oils, watercolors, stained glass and mixed media. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, at 32165 Winery Way, Lewes. Light refreshments and wine will be served.
The Nanticoke River Arts Council history goes back to 2007, when a group of artists and friends came together to encourage artistic expression and education in western Sussex County. Initially, there was no physical space for artists to show their works, so the group organized shows in a local park, and participated in whatever local festivals and events they could find. Eventually, an anonymous donor offered enough startup money to allow the rental of a small downtown storefront on Pine Street in Seaford in 2011. The group quickly outgrew the space and moved to its current location a few months later. Except for the period during the COVID pandemic, Gallery 107 has been open ever since at 324 High St., Seaford.
The artists are active in the community participating, volunteering and providing judges for area events.
Gallery 107 hosts artist receptions the first Friday of every other month when new art is introduced. Light refreshments are served along with occasional musical entertainment.
Children’s art classes are offered throughout the year. Many adult students have participated in a variety of classes including figure sketching, pourings and working with resin.
