The Nanticoke Tribe held the annual celebration of Native American Day Nov. 2 at the Nanticoke Indian Museum near Millsboro.
The event featured native crafts, traditional foods, music and traditional dance. Guest speakers included Rep. Jeff Hilovsky and Lisa Swanger from the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays. Admission the Nanticoke Indian Museum was free for the day.
“Native American Day is a day to celebrate native and indigenous cultures,” said Farrah Norwood-Stigall, assistant chief of the Nanticoke Tribe. “It’s really an educational time for us to provide the public with information on indigenous people and to let them know that we are still here. It’s an opportunity to bridge the gap and educate them on what they may not know.”
