Naturopathic practice expands to include health coaching
Dr. Kim Furtado is launching a new program with health coach partners Katy Pugh and Sydney Dawson for a more hands-on approach.
After 23 years in practice, Furtado has heard her patients' requests and used the feedback to create the Full Circle Program, which offers a combination of naturopathic consultations and one-on-one health coaching sessions. This six-month, comprehensive program is best for clients who seek to treat chronic illness through lifestyle medicine and find the root cause of their disease with personalized support.
Naturopathic medicine is founded on the healing power of nature and works to restore the functioning of body, mind and spirit through treatments that enhance the body's innate healing abilities. The addition of health coaching will help implement Furtado’s detailed health evaluations and treatment plans with evidence-based, skillful conversation, clinical interventions, and strategies to actively engage her clients in effective health and lifestyle change.
The program will provide education on a variety of health topics including nutrition, sleep hygiene, stress management, environmental toxins, physical activity and more. Coaches guide clients through the challenging process of habit change. The goal is to arm clients with the information and empowerment to create healthier and happier lifestyles that are sustainable.
Furtado received her doctor of naturopathic medicine degree from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Wash., and holds a bachelor of science degree with honors in biology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She has been in practice in Delaware since 2001.
Katy Pugh is a retired registered nurse and a certified health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she studied coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories.
Sydney Dawson is a certified life and grief coach, and is currently earning an additional certification through the Health Coach Institute. This multigenerational team offers a broad holistic health perspective and an exceptionally compassionate approach to wellness.
Consultations and coaching sessions will be primarily virtual, with limited availability for in-person accommodations in the Lewes area.
