New bridal shop opens in Nassau Commons near Lewes

January 12, 2011

Brides-to-be in the Cape Region rejoice: A new bridal store has opened to help with everything a bride could need for the big day. Brides 2 Be by Hope Mitchell
is open seven days a week on Nassau Commons Boulevard off Route 9.

After serving as co-owner of another bridal shop in Millsboro, Mitchell decided it was time to open her own store. “The owner of the building showed it to me last fall, and it was in pretty good shape because it had previously been a bridal shop,” Mitchell said. “We are adding some lighting. There aren’t other formal bridal shops in this area, so it will be convenient for customers.”

Dozens of dresses of all lengths and sizes line the walls around the well-lit shop. Accessories, including tiaras and more, light up glass cases. The shop features all types of formal wear, including tuxedos for purchase or rent, wedding dresses, bridal party dresses and many options for the mothers, too. Mitchell also carries Quinceañera dresses for the celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday.

“We have options for destination weddings and beach weddings,” said Mitchell, “and we can order pretty much anything the customer would need.”

Mitchell learned her business savvy from her parents, who both had various businesses, but she also has always loved weddings. “When my oldest sister went shopping for her bridal gown – I was about 10 years old – that’s when I decided I wanted to be a bridal shop lady when I grew up,” Mitchell said. “I’ve worked in all sorts of businesses, but I’ve always liked the bridal shop best. Here, I get to plan for Barbie and Ken every day. It’s a really fun job.”

Brides 2 Be is located at 17605 Nassau Commons Blvd., Lewes. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday; and from noon to 4 p.m., Sunday.
