New dental care clinic in Milford caters to senior citizens
Representatives of Nemours SeniorCare cut the ribbon Oct. 1, on a new dental clinic for seniors at 909 North DuPont Blvd., Milford. The clinic offers a new model of dental care for low-income Delawareans 65 years of age and older. With the latest addition, the Milford location now offers the same model of dental care as that provided at the clinic for seniors in Wilmington.
“We are pleased to be able to offer our members this service,” said Executive Director Karie Steinmetz. “With the new model of care, Nemours will be able to provide treatment to more members and in a more timely way, and members in Kent and Sussex counties will now have to travel to just one location to receive their dental, eye and hearing screenings.”
In addition, the Nemours Health Clinic has changed its name to Nemours SeniorCare. “We felt the name change was necessary at this time in the evolution of Nemours as an organization,” said Tom Ferry, senior vice president of hospital operations and former administrator of the Nemours Health Clinic. “The new name provides a better description of the services we provide and who we provide them to.”
Nemours provides outpatient health services for thousands of senior Delawareans in need. Enrollment eligibility is based on age, residence in Delaware and income.
Jodi Voshell, a dental technician who works at the Wilmington and Milford sites, said clients in southern Delaware are very excited about the new clinic, and appointments have already been booked. “For our members, this clinic is a wonderful addition to the services already provided,” she said.
Dentist Dr. Diane Dudderar, who treats senior patients, agreed. “The need for this service is well established,” said Dudderar. “Now we can take care of our waiting list and broaden our reach to provide services for more patients. This, I think, would have made Mr. duPont very happy. We are delighted, and so are our clients.”
