New veterinarian joins Delaware SPCA in Georgetown

November 5, 2016

The Delaware SPCA announced that Dr. Madhulal Valliyatte has joined their Georgetown shelter. He performs dog and cat wellness services and exams, including dental exams, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neuter surgeries and more.

With this addition of a full-time experienced veterinarian, the Delaware SPCA expands its animal health services to the community. “We are confident Dr. Maddy will help to provide much needed low cost veterinary services to the Sussex county area,” says Tiffany Briddell, interim executive director. Valliyatte is a licensed veterinarian in the state of Delaware. He worked as a veterinarian with an animal shelter in India, The Elephant Family Organization of the United Kingdom and The Kuwait Society for Protection of Animals and their Habitat. He also holds a degree in wildlife management from Wildlife Institute of India, and is a member of Veterinarians International Inc.

The Delaware SPCA is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to enhance the well-being of companion animals with their human care-givers and communities. They promote the humane treatment of animals by providing adoption opportunities, low-cost veterinary services and educational programs. They do not receive federal funding, and they rely primarily on local donations to carry out their work for the animals.

The Georgetown shelter takes in over 1,000 animals a year, many of which are in urgent need of care and medical attention before they find new homes. The Delaware SPCA is Delaware’s largest provider of low-cost spay/neuter services, providing pet owners access to spay/neuter at little to no cost.
