Possible votes on Jan. 9 Sussex P&Z agenda
Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda are possible votes on the following: a subdivision application filed by Keastone Bay – Baywood LLC and Sussex Realty Co. for 675 single-family lots on 311 acres on the northeast and southeast sides of Green Road near the Banks Road intersection near Long Neck; a conditional-use application filed by Rehoboth LLC for 224 multifamily units on a 19-acre parcel on the south side of Route 24 near the Warrington Road intersection between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach; and conditional-use and rezoning applications filed by Mary and Victor Rico for multifamily housing on Sunset Lane, off Route 24, near Lewes. Among scheduled public hearings is continuation of public comment on a proposed memorandum of understanding between Sussex County and Delaware Department of Transportation officials regarding land-use applications.

Lewes council to discuss 2020 priorities Jan. 9
Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Rollins Community Center to discuss priorities for the upcoming year. The special meeting is open to the public. For more information, call city hall at 302-645-7777.

14th RD Dems to meet at new venue Jan. 8 
The next meeting of the 14th Representative District Democratic Party Committee will be held Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Iron Hill Brewery, located on northbound Route 1, just north of the turnoff to the City of Rehoboth Beach. Note that this is the first time the committee will be meeting at the Iron Hill Brewery. The dutch treat dinner/social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. 

The committee will use this first meeting of the 2020 election year to brainstorm goals, action items and deadlines for implementation throughout the year, including candidate recruitment and support, get out the vote, and fundraising strategies. Committee members and any interested members of the Democratic Party are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in the meeting - all ideas are welcome.

Dewey commissioners meeting Jan. 11
Dewey Beach commissioners will hold an executive session and monthly town meeting Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Executive session, which is closed to the public, begins at 9 a.m., when commissioners will hold strategy sessions involving legal advice with respect to pending litigation. The monthly meeting, which is open to the public, will convene at 10 a.m. Commissioners will possibly vote to indemnify Commissioner Paul Bauer, to adopt a resolution to recommend the governor appoint an assistant alderman, and to extend financial authorization of a GIS stormwater mapping database and pipe inventory pilot project from $30,000 to $60,000. Other possible votes include an ordinance to amend parking fee rates, to amend the whistleblower protection policy, and to approve a new investment policy. Dewey budget committee to meet Jan. 10
The Dewey Beach Budget and Finance Committee will meet at 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Members will review and discuss fiscal year financial results including actual vs. budget and year-over-year comparisons, future set-aside accounts, and future capital/project funding requirements for the next three to five years.

Rehoboth tree advisory committee to meet Jan. 10
The Rehoboth Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for an update on commemorative tree status, a discussion about Arbor Day 2020, which marks the city’s 30th year as a Tree City, and all things improper related to tree maintenance. Henlopen Acres meeting set Jan. 10
The Henlopen Acres Board of Commissioners has scheduled its quarterly meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. The agenda calls for continued review of town code regarding rental properties and the appointment of two planning commission members. For more information call 302-227-6411. Rehoboth planners to meet Jan. 10
The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a discussion on the 2020 Comprehensive Development Plan and possible action on requirements, considerations and other matters regarding sketch-plan reviews.
