Cape Gazette posts holiday deadlines

Both retail and classified advertising deadlines will be moved up for the next two weeks due to the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. The deadline for the Friday, Dec. 25 issue will be noon, Monday, Dec. 21. The deadline for the Tuesday, Dec. 29 issue will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 23. The deadline for the Friday, Jan. 1 issue will be noon, Monday, Dec. 28. The deadline for the Tuesday, Jan. 5 edition will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 30. Cape Gazette offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24-25, and Dec. 31-Jan. 1.

Rehoboth shade tree commission to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Parks & Shade Tree Commission has scheduled a meeting for 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 21. The meeting will be conducted online. The agenda calls for an update on the possible removal of a street tree at 127 Rodney St. The agenda also calls for two appeal hearings. The first, for the property at 119 Columbia Ave., is an appeal of a denial of a permit to remove one tree due to construction. The second, for the property at 344 Hickman St., is related to the removal of a pear tree located between the sidewalk and curb. Members of the public wishing to speak will be required to pre-register at least 24 hours prior to the meeting at awomack@cityofrehoboth.com. Rehoboth board of adjustment to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Board of Adjustment has scheduled an online meeting for 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21. There are two hearings on the agenda. The first, for the property at 16 Hickman St., in an appeal of the building inspector’s decision that the increase of the structure triggers additional fire protective measures. The second, for the property at 46 Sussex St., is a request for variances to allow a proposed addition to partially encroach on the rear setback line and to allow the proposed addition to exceed the 50 percent lot coverage. Lewes Parks and Rec meets Dec. 21

The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will meet virtually at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21. The group will discuss a request to build a veterans memorial in Canalfront Park. Commissioners will also receive a year-end report from the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, consider a donation of holly bushes from Lewes In Bloom, and consider a recommendation allowing business sponsorships of gardens at the Rollins Community Center and Lewes Public Library. Sussex announces holiday closings

Sussex County government offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 23, Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, as well as Friday, Jan. 1.
