Rehoboth Ave. paving postponed this week

The Rehoboth Avenue milling and paving project in Rehoboth Beach has been postponed for a week, beginning Monday, Dec. 2. A city-issued statement said it was because of cold temperatures expected all week long.

Lewes financial group to meet Dec. 3

The Lewes Financial Stewardship Subcommittee will meet at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Rollins Center.

The group plans to discuss feedback from city budget workshop held Nov. 21.

Milton transportation plan workshop set 

The Delaware Department of Transportation will hold a public workshop on the Milton Active Transportation Plan from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Mariner Middle School in Milton. 

The plan is being developed to support provision of a safe and comfortable bicycle and pedestrian network that allows Milton residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to walk and bike for transportation and recreation. For more information, go to publicinput.com/x2074. 

Pop-up boutique set at Cancer Support Community Dec. 3

Cancer Support Community will host a pop-up boutique fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, at its Sussex County office in the Beebe Medical Arts Building, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Suite 312, Rehoboth Beach. Clothing items, purses, accessories and shoes will be available for purchase. Credit card and cash payments will be accepted. Proceeds will go directly to fund critical programming offered at no cost for patients, caregivers and loved ones affected by cancer in Sussex County. For more information, call 302-645-9150.

Lewes art group meets Dec. 4

The Lewes Public Art Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Rollins Center.

Donovan-Smith on Lewes agenda Dec. 5

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a workshop at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at city hall.  The agenda includes discussion and possible action on the request from Donovan-Smith Manufactured Home Park owners to reduce the site-plan review fee to apply for a conditional-use application.

Acres environmental committee to meet 

The Henlopen Acres Environmental Approval Committee will meet at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. The agenda calls for possible action on landscaping plans at 59 Pine Reach, replacement of a nonconforming fence at 15 Tidewaters, demolition of a house and new construction at 46 Pine Reach, and installation of a new deck and swimming pool at 93 Tidewaters.

Acres planning commission to meet 

The Henlopen Acres Planning Commission will meet at 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. The agenda calls for possible approval of the 2024 Comprehensive Development Plan, with additional discussions on how to get comments from town commissioners, town residents and neighboring towns.

DBG sets virtual meeting Dec. 6

Delaware Botanic Gardens will hold its annual public meeting at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, via Zoom.

“DBG had a record-setting 2024 season, and we want to thank DBG members, supporters and guests as we end the year on a high note with our appeal to our members and supporters,” said Ray Sander, DBG president. 

The agenda includes reports on grounds and facilities, a financial report and an update on the Annette Pennoni Meadow Pavilion project. 

Sheryl J. Swed, DBG executive director, said, “We want to thank all staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to maintain and care for DBG this year. 

“We also thank all who have visited and supported the gardens in 2024. At the annual meeting, we will announce members-only winter visit days. We look forward to seeing you March 13, 2025, when we open again.”

Lewes planners to meet Dec. 6

The Lewes Planning Commission will hold its regular meeting at a special date and time, 9 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at the Rollins Center.

The agenda includes discussion and possible recommendation to council regarding the proposed Overfall Preserve townhome community on Savannah Road.

Rehoboth planning commission to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission will meet at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, in the city hall commissioners room, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a preliminary site-plan review for the Atlantic Crowne Hotel on Baltimore Avenue. It also includes discussion of the Nov. 25 decision made by the city’s board of adjustment regarding the Belhaven Hotel project, specifically related to a potential appeal by the planning commission of the board’s decision. 

The commission may go into executive session for a strategy session involving legal advice or opinion from the commissioners’ attorney.
