Sussex council awards nonprofit grants

Sussex County Council awarded the following councilmanic grants during its July 16 meeting: $1,000 to Off Street Sports Performance Inc. for its program for students in the Indian River School District; $2,600 to Harry K Foundation for its Desert Oasis Feeding program; $1,000 to Mispillion Performance Series for concerts; $1,000 to Autism Delaware Inc. for its Snowflake Soiree event; $3,000 to Town of Delmar for its State Street Park shade project; and $1,000 to Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford Inc. for the Riverwalk Freedom Festival.

Lewes council to hold public hearing Aug. 5

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, at the Rollins Center.

Members will discuss proposed ordinances on accessory dwelling units and changes to wetland buffers, and hear public comments.

Rehoboth Board of Elections to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Board of Elections will meet at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the city hall commissioners room, 229 Rehoboth Ave. 

The agenda calls for setting a date and time for opening absentee ballots, setting a meeting to certify the election results immediately following the polls’ closing and any other items of concern that may arise.

Rehoboth Beach workshop set Aug. 5

Rehoboth Beach commissioners will hold a workshop at 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 5, in the city hall commissioners room, 229 Rehoboth Ave. 

The agenda includes discussions on a draft fund policy, possible changes to the basement code, awarding the annual street paving contract, developing a mixed-use zoning ordinance, and amending regulations on parking, storing or leaving of vehicles and trailers.
