Nina Ann Amato, kind, compassionate soul
Nina Ann Amato, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024. A longtime resident of Townsend and Middletown, Nina moved to Lewes in 2002 to be near her two sons and grandchildren.
Known for her beauty inside and out, she was kind, compassionate, and had a servant's heart. She enjoyed a long career in the medical field. Nina loved animals and had a passion for traveling to places such as Africa, Europe and South America.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Records; and brother Nicholas Sarantis; and her husband, Anthony Amato. She is survived by her first husband, John W. Stewart; two sons, John Stewart and his wife Cindi Stewart, and Jeff Stewart and his wife Sherry Stewart. Nina was devoted to her six grandchildren, Bryan Stewart, Kevin Smith, Savannah Stewart, Kristen Smart, Ian Stewart and McKenna Autry; and her nine great-grandchildren. Nina is also survived by her good friends Marsha Orlov, Charles Howard and Phil White.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Hwy., Lewes, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m.
