Norma Lee Lingo, retired postal worker
Norma Lee Lingo, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Manor House in Seaford. Norma was born in Seaford, daughter of Wilbur and Marie Allen. She was predeceased by her daughter, Katherine “Kitty” L. Stephens; her husband, Clarence N. Lingo Sr.; and her brother, Howard Allen.
Norma had a long career working for the U.S. Post Office in Millsboro, initially working inside the post office, then eventually driving a delivery route for many years.
She was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Millsboro, where she spent long hours creating needlepoint kneelers for the congregation. Norma was known for her incredibly detailed and beautiful needlepoint.
After retiring, Norma volunteered at the Millsboro Public Library and with Meals on Wheels.
Norma is survived by her children, Clarence “Nick” Lingo Jr. (Deborah) and Vikki L. Blades (Tim), both of Millsboro; six grandchildren, Heather Lingo, Shane Lingo, Justin Blades, Ryan Blades, Bart Stephens and Curt Stephens; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Ellen Toeniskoetter (Robert) of Austin, Texas.
Norma enjoyed her last years at the Manor House, with both old and new friends. Her family appreciates all of the care the staff at the Manor House provided during her stay.
A private family graveside service will be held Friday, June 30. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering from noon to 3 p.m., Friday, June 30, at The Landing Restaurant in Plantation Lakes, Millsboro.
