Norman Bruce Unruh, loved coastal living
Norman Bruce Unruh, 77, of Lewes, passed away from Lewy body dementia at home surrounded by his family Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024. He was born May 7, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late G. Linder and Edith (Sturgis) Unruh.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Hill Unruh; his children, Jeff Unruh (Darlene) of Valparaiso, Ind., and Tricia Magrini (Glenn) of Lewes; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Cole and Brynn.
Bruce was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington. He then furthered his education, enrolling in University of Delaware, pledging the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Bruce’s career path would lead him to senior management in operations within the service industry from where he retired after many dedicated years.
After marrying the love of his life, Elizabeth (Hill) Unruh, they raised their family in West Chester, Pa. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Aiken, S.C., where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family as often as he could, volunteered with First Tee of Aiken for years, and led an active social life. During the winter, he loved taking trips to Ixtapa, Mexico, enjoying the sun, the beach and deep-sea fishing trips. Drawn by coastal living, Bruce and Liz recently moved to Lewes to be near family. More than anything, he treasured time spent with those he held most dear. Bruce was a loving and devoted husband, father, and granddad. He will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes.
