Norman Guarinello, proud Army veteran
Norman Guarinello passed away suddenly Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.
He was raised in Boothwyn, Pa., and attended Boothwyn Elementary School, Chichester Junior High, and Chichester High School Class of 1963. Norman attended Pennsylvania Military College, graduating as a U.S. Army second lieutenant. He received his master’s degree from Salve Regina University, Rhode Island, and attended U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa.
Norman served during the Vietnam War at Fort Sill and Fort Lee as an artillery officer, and served as an active Army signal officer with the National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. He ended his career as a lieutenant colonel.
He loved playing golf, cooking crabs for the family, traveling with college friends, and his yearly trip to Walt Disney World in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Thelma Guarinello; and infant son, Alan Guarinello. He is survived by his doting wife, Kay Kilmon Guarinello; his adoring daughters, Karie Gosnell and Kristin Tay; his affectionate grandchildren, Samantha Guarinello, Nick Gosnell and wife Sarah, twins Jordan Gosnell and Jared Gosnell, and Hunter Tay; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Theodore and Nancy Kilmon; and his cousin, Beverly Massey.
Norman was a member of Del Vets Post 1 in Wilmington, Elks Wilmington 307, and Unity Lodge in Newport.
The family thanks the loving support over the years by the Chichester Class of 1963, and the devoted and affectionate love of his PMC college Brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 15, at Linwood United Methodist Church, 1627 Chichester Ave., Linwood, Pa. Friends and family are invited for viewing from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, with a luncheon following at Ballrooms at Boothwyn, Boothwyn, Pa.
