Old Dogfish Head restaurant to come down Nov. 6

November 3, 2017

The original Dogfish Head brewpub is slated to come down at 9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6.

Dogfish had operated out of the building for 22 years; it was the site of Dogfish’s founding by Sam Calagione in 1995. The company has grown to become one of the largest independent craft brewers in the country, and moved into a new brewpub next door in May.

The original Dogfish Head had a closing party prior to the opening of the new facility, and had served as a brewhouse and merchandise store over the summer.

The site of the original Dogfish will be paved to make way for a courtyard scheduled to open in spring 2018, said Dogfish spokeswoman Heather Kenton. She said Chesapeake and Maine and the new brewpub will be open during the demolition.
