Old Landing, Warrington intersection needs help

June 21, 2024

The residents of Lewes have willingly accepted the traffic quagmire thrust upon us by road construction, knowing that it is (hopefully) temporary. The intersection of Old Landing Road and Warrington Road is quite another story. The four-way stop relies on too many variables to be efficient. The traffic often backs up around the roundabout back to Route 24. This is not temporary; it is poor planning, and lack of vision and foresight. A traffic light might help. Or perhaps a full-time traffic policeman directing drivers who sit perplexed by who goes when. At times, it becomes unbearable. Come on, planners, do your job!

Editor’s note: The Delaware Department of Transportation has proposed improvements to the intersection, including a traffic signal and two versions of a roundabout.
