Margaret Porter of Lewes sent us this shot of an osprey tending to fledglings at a nest at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry dock. Nests of the osprey - also known as the sea hawk - can be found throughout the Cape Region. The large birds usually mate for life. The typical lifespan of osprey is 7–10 years.
Can’t make it out to see an osprey nest in person? Check out the Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park’s Osprey Cam at http://www.destateparks.com/park/cape-henlopen/osprey.asp.
