If there’s one thing we all can agree on, it’s that there is too much development. And the only folks who are benefiting are those who have a financial interest in more and more building. The rest of us suffer with overburdened medical care, packed beaches and restaurants, and dangerously overcrowded roads.
So, the big question is, what can be done? The answer lies with five people – Sussex County Council. Unfortunately, they have not been listening to us. They’ve been listening to developers. And they are driving with their foot on the accelerator, not the brake.
It’s time to elect someone with no ties to developers – Jane Gruenebaum. Jane is not even a politician. Jane is a resident who decided enough is enough. She was a founder of Sussex Preservation Coalition, an organization formed to be a voice for sustainable development. Do not confuse it with a political action committee with the purposely misleading name “Preserve Sussex,” which is funded by Sussex County developers.
The members of Sussex County Council have failed to establish ordinances that would restrict additional development. The county continues to approve development after development without concern for the impacts on our roads, schools, and medical resources. Council appoints like-minded people to the planning & zoning commission, and you can see the results all around us.
Overdevelopment has no party. The roads are just as crowded whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican or have no party. The doctor appointment waits are just as long. The service providers are just as hard to find.
It’s time for Sussex County Council to do its job and represent us, not just developers. No matter who you vote for at the top of the ballot, please vote for Jane Gruenebaum for Sussex County Council. She will represent your interests.
