Pacem in Terris celebrates Visionary Peace youth artists

June 3, 2021

Delaware Pacem in Terris hosted a celebration of Visionary Peace youth artists from Sussex and Kent counties May 15 at the Seaford District Library.

This event was the culmination of the 2020 Visionary Peace traveling exhibit which more than 120,000 people viewed while on display at a number of sites across the state, including the Delaware Contemporary Art museum in Wilmington, courthouses, libraries, Legislative Hall, faith-based organizations, social service centers, CAMP Rehoboth and A.I. duPont Nemours Hospital for Children.

The event was the downstate celebration to recognize these young artists.

First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney presented students with their awards and individual gifts. Musicians from Seaford elementary, middle and high schools entertained the crowd of more than 50 attendees.

In its fifth year, the Visionary Peace youth art project encourages students in grades K-5 to share their visions of peace in art and words. Normally featured at the Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington, the 2020 exhibit was presented virtually.
