Pacific Wine & Spirits has selection, low prices
The beer, wine and spirits business in the Cape region is competitive. Customers need reasons to select one store over another, and Pacific Wine & Spirits provides them.
“We offer very great pricing, very good service and a nice selection,” said Ashwin Patel, storeowner.
He said the store’s friendly staff and spacious aisles make shopping pleasant and are additional reasons to come in.
Patel bought the existing liquor store next to Super Fresh at Midway. He changed the name to Pacific Wine & Spirits and has been operating the business since the end of November.
Patel said a few things will be different at the new store. “We’re going to have everyday, low-pricing. People will save a lot of money here.
“We have an excellent selection of wines, and we’re going to keep expanding that. We’re also going to have better, high-end, superior wines,” Patel said.
He estimated there are 3,000 to 4,000 different products in the well organized and spacious 7,000-square-foot store.
Straight ahead on entering the store there’s a selection of spirits stocked on both sides of the aisle.
Wines are stocked primarily in the center of the store.
Signs above aisles make it easy to find wines by variety and country of origin. High-end imported wines are displayed horizontally in racks near the front of the store.
Ice-cold beer is displayed in a long, door-less cooler that makes it easy to grab a six-pack or a case. A large selection of beers that are not refrigerated, many of them produced by microbreweries, is shelved in a back section of the store.
“The beer selection is OK right now, but it’s going to get a lot better,” Patel said, adding that he plans to install a walk-in cooler, which will make it possible to offer a wider selection of cold beers.
He said because of years of experience he knows a lot about wine, beer and spirits. He said he also owns and operates Smyrna Wine & Liquor in Kent County.
“I’ve been in this business 15 years. I used to own Mr. B’s in Kent County, which is the biggest liquor store in the county,” Patel said.
Pacific Wine & Spirits hours are noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The store is at 18578 Coastal Highway in the Pelican Square Shopping Center next to Super Fresh. There’s plenty of parking. For additional information, phone 302-644-7080.
