Painting classes offered at Rehoboth Art League this winter

January 12, 2019

Always wanted to learn how to paint?   The Rehoboth Art League is offering watercolor and acrylic painting classes this winter.

Acrylic painting is a great medium for beginner painters because it dries quickly and is very forgiving. If not happy with an area painted, let it dry and paint right over it in a matter of minutes.  Learn Acrylic Painting Basics Tuesday afternoons, Jan. 15 through Feb. 12 (no class Jan. 29) from 1 to 3 p.m.  This four-week class will introduce participants to composition as well as painting and brush techniques.  Local instructor Myndi Smithers will also cover color theory and mixing acrylic colors.  The cost for the acrylic painting classes is $100 for members and $135 for nonmembers.

Many people shy away from watercolor painting because they fear that it is too difficult. Watercolor painting can be challenging at first, but it is easy and inexpensive to get started: All one needs are paint, water and a brush.  Learn Watercolor Painting Basics Wednesday afternoons, Jan, 16 through Feb. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m.  In this four-week class, instructor Smithers will introduce brush techniques and water control.  Drawing for watercolor paintings, composition and developing a personal style will also be emphasized.  The cost for the watercolor painting classes is $100 for members and $135 for nonmembers.

To register for classes, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408 Ext. 112.  All classes are held at the Rehoboth Art League, located at 12 Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres.

The RAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making art accessible to all. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.  The division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
